“I’m thrilled for Wolverine that he’s getting immortalized” –Hugh Jackman

One of the world’s most popular anti heroes, “Wolverine,” as portrayed by superstar Hugh Jackman in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” will be at Comic-con July 23 through July 26, exclusively presented in the Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment booth (Booth #1429 – Twentieth Century Fox), prior to its arrival at Madame Tussauds Hollywood on Aug. 1.

“I’m thrilled for Wolverine that he’s getting immortalized,” Jackman recently said in a pre-recorded message to fans. (more…)

Do you want to know the five little words that could send any girl’s heart racing? I believe they’d be “Ding Dong! Hugh Jackman calling!” What if he came bearing the gifts of a perfect lipstick and foundation? Yes, he’s going to toy with us in just such a way, because Variety reports that Fox has bought “Avon Man,” a comedy written by Kevin Bisch (“Hitch”), and set it up for Jackman to star in and produce via his Seed Productions.

The story draws a bit from the British comedy “The Fully Monty,” and follows a group of car salesmen who are abruptly laid off from their dealership. One man (Jackman) reluctantly becomes an Avon salesman in order to feed his family. While he initially finds his gig to be an embarrassing slam on his manhood, he soon finds that his stunning looks and rakish charm are a big hit, and make him a top Avon seller. He sets out to save the entire town by recruiting all the unemployed men into the cosmetic business in order to win a regional contest. (more…)

Matt Damon may have scored People’s Sexiest Man Alive title in 2007, but he has no plans to vie for this year’s crown.

In fact, the “Bourne” franchise star told the magazine he is pulling for “X-Men” hunk Hugh Jackman to take the crown again.

Seth Rogen and James Franco have taken the pineapple express to Oscar credibility.

As if expanding the Best Picture nominee pool and potentially nixing the Best Song category wasn’t enough to modernize the usually staid Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, surely its welcoming of cinema’s preeminent bong jokesters is.

Rogen and Franco are two of 134 new artists and movie industry executives who have been extended invitations to join the Academy and, in doing so, secure voting rights for all future Oscar ceremonies beginning in 2010. (more…)
